HARLEM ON MY MIND WAS AN EXHIBITION CURATED BY THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART (THE MET). IT WAS CREATED IN 1969. THE EXHIBITION WAS CURATED TO HIGHLIGHT HARLEM’S ACHIVEMENTS INTO AMERICAN LIFE AND THE CITY. BUT THERE WAS CONTROVERSY CENTERED AROUND THE EXHIBITION. COMMITTEE MEMBERS AND BLACK ARTISTS WITHDREW FROM SUPPORTING THE EXHIBITION.
ONE OF THE CENTRAL COMPLAINTS WAS THE EXCLUSION OF BLACK ARTISTS IN THE EXHIBITION.A GROUP OF ARTIST DECIDED TO ORGANIZE A PROTEST AGAINST THE MET. THE PROTEST BROUGHT ATTENTION TO THE NEED FOR GREATER DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION IN MUSEUMS.
FROM THE ARX WANTED TO DO A REMAKE OF THIS DESIGN TO PAY HOMAGE TO BLACK ARTIST AND TO HIGHLIGHT THE IMPORTANCE OF HARLEM AND THE RIGHT TO STAND FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY.
This Vintage Wear with sleeves that hit at just the right spot on the biceps, T-shirt nails the not-too-big, not-too-tight thing. This crewneck feels broken-in from the jump (and gets even softer with each wash). Print is embedded in the cloth and will give a smokey feel through the life of the garment.
Delivery standard will be 7-14 business days.
